Lenovo is seeking a Sr. Counsel, Intellectual Property Litigation, reporting to the Executive Director, Global Litigation. The successful candidate will manage and drive all intellectual property litigation cases from complaint to conclusion, collaborating with internal and outside counsel, specific subject matter experts, technology experts, business analysts, and company clients. Ideally the position is filled in the Morrisville, NC or Chicago, IL office locations, but remote candidates will be considered.
Basic Job Requirements:
J.D. Degree with strong academic credentials
Current bar membership in the US
12+ years of legal experience with at least 5 years of law firm experience preferred
Significant IP litigation experience with a focus on focused on high tech products including cell phones, computers and/or consumer electronics
Experience leading litigation tasks, discovery management/collection, and working effectively with other attorneys and paralegals
Pre-trial/disposition, mediation, and motion practice experience are requirements
Experience advising on SEP licensing and litigation, litigation strategy and positions, predicting risk-adjusted costs of pursuing litigation, determining and managing case budgets, and developing/evaluating settlement proposals
Understanding or experience with international IP litigation and arbitration, particularly in Germany, India, China and the UK
Trial experience, first or second chair and motion practice, is preferred
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple matters simultaneously
Demonstrated business acumen, strong analytical skills, and the ability to grasp important business issues and legal issues facing the company
Strong communication and presentation skills are required to explain complex legal matters to business leaders in a manner that is readily understandable in order to ensure well-informed business decisions
The candidate should demonstrate an ability to thrive in a large, global environment while coordinating the efforts of an outside counsel network within limited budgets
Experience with commercial litigation matters (breach of contract, class actions, bankruptcy, general liability, insurance claims) as well is a plus.
*We are open to filling this role in either Raleigh, NC or Chicago, IL, remote in the US may be an option.
