Job Summary:

The Data Assistant will provide support to the Center for Economic History in the Department of Economics. The data assistant will work for all faculty and graduate students affiliated with the Center, including collecting and coding data, running statistical programs, looking up references, summarizing literature, and related tasks.

This position is a full-time position at 40 hours per week and works on-site.

Specific Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Manages data receipt, tracking and follows up on assigned project(s).
  • Detects trends and reports on patterns of errors.
  • Compiles and maintains codebooks, data files and memos needed for subsequent analysis of data.
  • Extracts & analyzes data and enters information into spreadsheets & databases.
  • Provides administrative support to organizational area.

Development

  • Edits, codes and enters data per protocol.
  • Runs reports and completes basic analysis.
  • Summarizes relevant literature and looks up references

Performance

  • Reviews data input for accuracy, addressing on skip patterns, coding, and other information.
  • Performs cleaning/formatting tasks of datasets.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • BA or BS in Economics.
  • Knowledge of STATA and Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently.
  • 2 years' data entry or similar experience is required.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook)
  • Stata
  • Add GIS - either Arc or Q
  • Critical Thinking
  • Judgement
  • Problem Solving
  • Organizational Skills

The target hiring range for this position will be between $40,319-$56,700 per year, which is $19.31-$27.16 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
