Working as a Industrial Engineer Drive Products, you will be the support person for various service engineering projects in Motion, Drive Products in New Berlin, Wisconsin, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, conducting or coordinating a range of complex engineering activities encompassing one or more engineering disciplines. Conduct or coordinate complex analyses and develop recommendations based on sound engineering practices and business considerations. Proactively develop and implement measures to improve operations and customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities

  • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including facility layout, process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, takt time assessments, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
  • Develop and update assembly instructions to support new product, current product and ECN's (Engineering Change Notification)
  • Identify methods to ensure standardized work is followed and reduce process variation
  • Experience in value stream mapping
  • Enter and maintain labor routings
  • Knowledge or experience in utilizing time study and assembly line & test simulation tools to validate line capacities and perform line design iterations
  • Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma and root cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and update Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to optimize line side part presentation
  • Calculate material usage, Kanban and buffer sizing to optimize material handling and production
  • Evaluate the need and design for improved material handling processes and equipment
  • Maintain a detailed action registry of current and future tasks to prioritize work
  • Work with cross functional teams including, operations, material planning & scheduling, manufacturing engineering, quality and product engineering
  • Support production startup and ramp plans
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and MS Office
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
  • Ability to work autonomously and self directed
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field and minimum 3 years of engineering experience required
  • Experience with ProPlanner is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a high velocity high mix environment is strongly preferred
  • Lean SS (Six Sigma) Training, green belt or black belt is strongly preferred
  • Smart torquing tool experience is strongly preferred
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
