The Financial Accounting Supervisor supports the Boise Trucking group, a division of PCA, which operates a fleet of company owned tractors and trailers within the company transportation complex. This individual will supervise employees and functions of the trucking operation. (Functions may include one or several of the following: accounts payable; accounts receivable; inventory, capital projects, payroll, general ledger, and ad-hoc projects). Position will be supervising employees in Boise, Idaho in addition to working with others within Trucking division.

Actively expands knowledge and interfaces with all aspects of the integrated accounting system. Responsible for the administration of the accounting system(s) and coordinates problem resolution with IT.

Manages complex accounting duties, including General Ledger. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as a company representative to external and internal customers/vendors. Responsible for accurate, and timely financial statements, and other management reporting. Maintains SOX controls.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives and processes requests from corporate office and division managers for tax support, monthly reporting, capital spending, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Coordinates with Boise Trucking Operations management team in providing information and accounting related support.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Asset Management, General Ledger, Tax Department, and Information Services teams to resolve problems.
  • Responds to and supports the internal customer requests and questions regarding service, products, and account information while also providing or assisting with support for third party systems (Oracle, TMT, TMW, and McLeod).
  • Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations and provides direction for the same tasks done by team and individuals.
  • Research, resolves, and improves accounting processes or procedures.
  • Sets priorities, conducts performance reviews, and makes salary recommendations for employees supervised. Provides training, coaching and mentoring for employees.
  • Serves as a back-up to accounts payable and accounts receivable. Also expected to cover for controller when needed.

Education/Experience/Knowledge

  • 3 - 5 yrs. experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SOX accounting standard procedures.
  • Supervisory skills or demonstrated skills in leading a team.
  • 5+ yrs. experience in a computerized/accounting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and prioritize work.
  • Requires office-related experience and demonstrated leadership, organization, and planning skills.
  • Experience in accounting system project implementation a plus.
  • Requires broad knowledge of company divisions/departments.
  • Extensive use of Excel and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of computerized ERP system.

Scope

  • The work includes a variety of different tasks across several different systems and platforms.
  • The work varies in response to requests as well as a variety of regular activities requiring prioritizing and scheduling of activities.
  • Interacts, when required by job activities, with people inside and/or outside the company.
  • Responds to customer requests, complaints and questions regarding service, products and account information.

Travel

  • 50% travel to Boise during initial learning phase of position (3-6 months), decreasing to 10%-25% afterwards.
