Job Description
The Technical Support Chemist is responsible for performing on site installations and training of instrumentation at customer sites and following up with customers after installation to troubleshoot and resolve issues over the phone or via email.  Additional duties include researching possible products to recommend and sell to customers.  The ideal candidate is a strong researcher, detail oriented in maintaining records, and familiar with lab maintenance and cleaning.  The incumbent is responsible for scheduling customer trainings and making their own travel arrangements.  Most travel is mostly week days and in the US.  Must be able to obtain a passport and must hold a valid and insurable driver license.

Responsibilities of the Technical Support Chemist include :
  • On-site & virtual installations and trainings at laboratories around the US
  • Telephone and email troubleshooting for customers
  • Assist in development of methods
  • Instrument and software testing
  • Create customer  describing procedures for efficient and effective use of instrumentation
  • Special projects related to customer needs
  • Advise customers on instrumentation and methods
  • Perform diagnostics on in-house instruments
  • Instrument maintenance
  • Assist  technical sales with Instrument/software demonstrations
  • Assist with sales and marketing strategies
  • Attend conferences, exhibitions and demonstrations as required
Requirements of the Technical Support Chemist:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or closely related field
  • Ideally have experience in water/wastewater laboratory
  • Good analytical chemistry laboratory skills
  • Ideally familiar with analyses techniques such as BOD, COD, Metals, Inorganic nutrient analysis
  • Ideally have worked with discrete, flow analyzers (FIA, SFA) and/or BOD robotics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a part of a team to accomplish common goals
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time (available for overnight weeknight travel, up to 3-4 nights per week).  Majority of travel is within the US.
