Supervisor, R&D - Pilot Plant Maintenance at a glance...

Under the direction and supervision of a Pilot Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading Glenview Pilot Plant maintenance employees and maintenance operations for Glenview and Morton Grove. This role will provide leadership to the maintenance team and helping to drive projects to commercialization with the North American businesses, as well as managing equipment and maintenance program operations. The Maintenance Manager will use strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills to collaborate with the pilot plant, Morton Grove Plant, contractors, program and system personnel, and cross-functional teams.

  • Manage dedicated maintenance team and dotted line manage flexible technicians and support team growth and development.
  • Manage and provide project planning expertise with pilot plant and cross-functional partners including equipment assessment, capital, resources, and scheduling requirements.
  • Improves reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost and avoid loss of production as a result of equipment malfunction or failure time.
  • Resolves equipment capabilities, safety and operational condition in coordination with the other supervisors and technicians.
  • Develops preventative maintenance procedures that are cost effective and increase the operational life of the equipment.
  • Coordinates, arranges, and supervises, or provides for the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company operating procedures, practices and financial considerations.
  • Provide maintenance training to include the effective utilization of the maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to facility, equipment operations and support.
  • Assist with safety training, monthly safety meetings, and provides technical support for all safety projects.
  • Advises workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, and utility systems maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Identify technical gaps and provide solutions to deliver business objectives.
  • Ability to flex working hours for essential projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, food industry, or a similar field; or a High School Diploma / Associates Degree with 15+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, food industry, or a similar field.
  • Associates / Trades Certifications preferred.
  • Experience leading projects from conceptualization to completion in a R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, or Quality environment.
  • Ability to operate production equipment safely while following GMP, safety, and quality production requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems.
  • Fabrication skills desired.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and accommodate requests or change in schedule.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and quality standards preferred.
  • Forklift trained, or willing to be trained and certified.
  • Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and EAM skills required.
