Job Summary: Seeking a postdoctoral fellowto join the McDaid lab at the Endeavor Health Neurosciences Institute, located in Evanston, Illinois, and academically affiliated with the University of Chicago. Hired candidate will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects, including development of treatments for TBI, alcohol use disorder and glioblastoma. The candidate will be working in the lab full-time, and techniques used will include small animal neurosurgery, and use of post-surgery assays, including western blotting and electrophysiology. The McDaid lab is part of the Department of Neurosurgery, headed by Julian Bailes, MD. Thispositionreports directly to thePI, Dr. McDaid. This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible.


What you will do:

  • Oversee the use of a rat model of glioblastoma, and its treatment.
  • The ability to work independently, under minimal supervision by the PI, Dr. McDaid.
  • Ability to prepare scientific manuscripts for publication.

What you will need:

  • Education: PhD in Neuroscience or other related discipline required
  • Experience: Neuroscience background, 5+ years. Experience with small animal cranial surgery and/or brain slice electrophysiology/calcium imaging is considered a plus, but individuals will be trained in the relevant techniques.
