CTD Temporary Summer Academic Director

CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University

Academic Directors (ADs) serve as primary point of contact for all instructional staff, students and parents for their specific program: Grades 6-8 or Grades 9-12. The AD collaborates with the Program Coordinator to ensure the academic component of each program is meeting expectations and leads the team of Instructors and Teaching Assistants. There are three total AD positions available.

Employment Dates & Stipend

Full-time, on-campus work Monday, June 10 - Friday, August 2, 2024; final tasks completed remotely August 5 - 9, 2024.

Starting salary $6,800 per summer, increasing to $7,200 based on CTD experience in the same role.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or related field and minimum of 5 years teaching experience required; Master's degree and Type 75 certification preferred.

Effective interpersonal, organizational skills, and supervisory experience in a fast-paced academic setting.

Curriculum development, conflict management, customer service, staff evaluation, and experience with web-based learning management systems highly desired.

Ability to lift and/or maneuver at least 40 lbs.

Ability to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation.

General Responsibilities

Learn and implement CTD policies and procedures.

Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.

Serve as head of academic affairs, responding to staff and family concerns in a timely manner.

Support instructional staff, encourage collaboration between Instructors and
Teaching Assistants, and gather information through classroom observations; provide timely, meaningful and constructive feedback to academic staff regarding documentation and instructional activities.

Communicate with families regarding academic concerns.

Appropriately address and document staff and student conduct issues.

Inform administrative staff of student or staff concerns as appropriate.

Respond to student concerns and needs in a positive and supportive manner.

Train instructional staff on student and program evaluation systems and CTD policy/procedures.

Generate, organize, and distribute instructional support and training documents.

Track confidential student health information and communicate to instructional staff as appropriate.

Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
